Answer

Credit by examination is an accelerated means to get your credits.  In a traditional nursing program you have to adhere to a semester or quarter based schedule and to earn your credits you must attend onsite classes all the way through the semester or quarter even if it means sitting though concepts you already know.  With credit by examination you can study just what you don’t know and you can do it as fast as your schedule allows.  In credit by examination you get your credit by passing one exam per course so it could virtually cut your time in half!  For example, if you took Sociology in a semester school, you would have to attend onsite classes full-time for an entire semester to earn your credits.  As an RNBP member you will study just 12 hours of video or live instruction and have all the knowledge you need to pass your one-time Sociology CLEP exam.  At the end of the day you have the exact same credits as if you had sat through the entire semester.  Just be sure you check with your nursing school first and make sure they accept CLEP and ECE exams, or credits earned via examination.  Like we said before though, over 3,800 colleges are accepting credit by examination…and counting!
